1. Who we are

OpenRank is a free driving-tracker app for car enthusiasts. It lets you record trips, analyse driving style, navigate and take part in a community of drivers.

2. Data we collect

We only collect what the service needs:

• Account: username, email, hashed password.
• GPS telemetry: positions, speed, acceleration and timestamps during trips you explicitly start.
• Vehicles: information you add to your garage (make, model, year).
• Social data: comments, reactions, clubs, follows and activity you create in the app.
• Profile: photo and optional customisation.
• Notifications: a technical token (FCM) for push notifications, if you allow them.

GPS is not used continuously in the background. Recording only happens during a trip you start.

3. How we use data

• Compute trip analysis, statistics, estimated consumption and scores.
• Show navigation, ETA, nearby petrol stations and fixed speed-camera alerts.
• Power rankings, clubs and the activity feed.
• Send activity-related notifications, if you enabled them.
• Improve the app and fix bugs.

We never sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

4. Sharing

Your data is shared only in these cases:

• Public profile: username, level, achievements, photo and recent trips visible to other users, according to your settings.
• Rankings: username and performance indicators on the global or club leaderboard.
• Shared trips: when you generate a share link, that trip’s data is available via the link.
• Infrastructure providers: hosting (Infomaniak, European Union / Switzerland) and push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google), strictly to run the service.

5. Storage and security

Data is hosted on secured servers in the European Union / Switzerland. Passwords are hashed (Argon2id). API traffic uses HTTPS/TLS. Authentication uses short-lived tokens stored in the device secure store.

6. Retention

Your data is kept while your account is active. If you delete the account, personal data (trips, vehicles, comments, profile) is removed from live databases. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.

7. Cookies and trackers

The mobile app does not use advertising SDKs or third-party analytics. This site only uses local preferences (theme, language) stored in your browser.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, delete, port and object. You can:

• view and edit your data in the app;
• request an export of your data;
• delete your account — see Delete my account.

9. Minors

OpenRank is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If an account was created by a child, contact us for immediate deletion.

10. Changes

This policy may be updated. Material changes will be indicated in the app at least 14 days before they take effect.
